About 'bloom’

In its natural wisdom, beeswax develops a velvety bloom over time—a testament to its purity and connection to the elements. Influenced by temperature, humidity, and age, bloom is a hallmark of 100% beeswax and does not impact the candle's burn. Some of your candles may arrive adorned with this soft bloom and markings that appear as part of the creation process. If you wish to restore more of their "just poured" look, a touch of gentle warmth and a fine cloth will polish them back to their original state.

Candle hygiene

While beeswax is treasured for its clean burn, all candles require care for the ideal experience. Make a habit of trimming your wicks to 1/4" before each burn to minimize smoke and ensure a steady, even flame. As these candles are self-extinguishing, it is important to always burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts and flammable objects. Treat your flames as companions, burning them in sight and avoiding movement of the candle while lit.

Ethical harvesting

Worker bees produce wax to build the intricate hexagonal cells of their hive, which serve as storage for honey, pollen, and larvae. Over time, these cells are cleaned and replaced by the bees, allowing beekeepers to carefully harvest the excess wax. Ethical harvesting ensures that this process supports, rather than disrupts, the health of the colony. By leaving enough wax and honey for the bees to thrive, sustainable practices protect their vital role in pollination and maintain the balance of the ecosystem.
